It never seemed to bother my 2. I just preferred using some red LED lamps I had.

I used to have them in my compact top. As the lamps are lying parallel in the compact top, they illuminate the tank by reflecting off the metal reflectors rather than being a direct light.

That is with 1 in use. It's a bit brighter in the pic than in real life due to the camera compensating for it being dark.
