My crested gecko is scared when i go to hold him.

Hi.
I have had my crested gecko for two years now and he is healthy eats normaly but for the past two weeks gets really scared when i go to hold him (he never used to do that he was always happy to be held). He rans away from me and breaths really fast can anyone give me advise on what i should do please.
